A COUNT THAT MEANS SOMETHING

A tally is the oldest counter there is, and it works because it is honest: four strokes and a line through them, and you can see at a glance what you owe.

Most counter apps reset. That is the part that never fit. When you finally pay your therapist for the month, the four sessions did not stop existing, they got paid for. So Chalk has Settle. It closes the current cycle, writes down what it came to and when it ran, and puts the count back to zero. The cycle stays.

Prices are frozen at the moment you tap. Raise the rate in September and August still reads what August actually cost. That is the difference between a counter and a ledger.

Chalk has no server to send anything to

  • No accounts
  • No analytics, no ads, no SDKs
  • Sync runs on your own iCloud

There is no backend behind Chalk and no account to make. Your counters live on your device, and if you are signed in to iCloud they sync through your own private database, which nobody else can read. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected.
